Our mission is to establish motivational character development opportunities by providing accessibility to individuals of all ages to promote a healthier sense of wellbeing. We strive to empower our students to achieve their academic and personal goals.
The Make Your Moment in-classroom program is to help and humanize,
educate, teach, share and support students. Students learn leadership skills, have conversations about anti-bullying, self respect and more. The Matteau Goal Club floorball hockey allows students a bit of physical education, laughter and pure fun learning the game as a team.
After retiring from the NHL in 2003, Stephane has worked with schools for over 13 years. Starting with one school and
growing to over 30 schools impacting thousands of students and teachers in the New York metro areas and Pennsylvania,
"The “Make Your Moment” Program has been at P.S. 121 for over four years. The program offered students with various cultural backgrounds and walks of life a way to interact with others, build comfortability, and accept each other's similarities and differences. Students walk away with a better mindset as an individual who has learned they can change their own lives by facing their fears and vulnerabilities to create their own legacy. Ultimately, the “Make Your Moment” Program has taught our students to always believe in yourself because you are braver than you think, more talented than you know, and capable of more than you imagine." Principal Kreiner
"Stephane Matteau's Make Your Move social emotional learning program has both students and adults talking about overcoming obstales in life and becoming the best version of yourself. Stephane combines a powerful personal message, student friendly activities, and a great book to inspire the school community. All of my classes love when everyone's favorite "hockey guy" comes to school." Principal Ira Schulman
"The long-time partnership between the MS 181 community and Make Your Moment program has been an invaluable one. Stephane’s dedication to empowering the youth of the Bronx is evident in the relationships that he has built with our students over the years by sharing his wisdom and experience both on and off the ice. It has been wonderful to watch my students find their voices and develop leadership and teamwork skills under Stephane’s mentorship. The life lessons, knowledge and encouragement that they receive have been crucial to their ongoing academic success." Catherine Schmidt
